The Most Powerful Purpose-Built Mobile HDD Shredder

HD Maximus is Secure ITAD’s flagship in-house engineered mobile shredder, built to solve the biggest problem in modern on-site destruction: high-density hard drives that take too long to shred with outdated, repurposed equipment.
Purpose-built. ADISA-certified. Faster, cleaner and more secure than conventional mobile shredding—without compromising on evidence, traceability or compliance.
Purpose-built mobile HDD shredder – not a repurposed off-the-shelf unit
Shreds HDDs to 5mm particles at high speed
Handles HDDs, SSDs, tapes, networking devices, servers and PBBs (motherboards)
ADISA-certified process for maximum assurance
AI-driven scan & record of every drive (make, model & serial)
Multi-angle video evidence of the entire destruction process
Built because off-the-shelf shredders couldn’t keep up.
Over the last decade, hard drives have become smaller, denser and far harder to destroy quickly and safely on-site. Clients kept asking the same question: ‘Why does it take so long?’ Most mobile shredding solutions today are built on generic, hydraulic systems never designed specifically for HDDs that are slowed down by high drive density and smaller particles. The result, time-consuming destruction that drives up cost and disruption.
That’s why Secure ITAD took a different route.
After nearly a decade of designing shredders in-house, including a market-leading 2mm SSD shredder, we developed HD Maximus — commissioned in Q4 2025 — to give organisations a faster, cleaner, purpose-built solution for on-site HDD destruction.
A Solution for Mixed-Media Environments
HD Maximus is designed to perform consistently in the broad range of environments where secure media destruction is required. Whether the items are new, legacy, worn or mixed, the machine processes them without needing reconfiguration or manual adjustment.
It is suitable for:
Hard drives
- Solid state drives
- Backup tates and magnetic media
- Network equipment
- Servers
- PBBs and motherboards
When ultra-fine SSD destruction is required, we can deploy our specialist 2mm SSD shredder alongside HD Maximus—giving you a complete, best-in-class on-site destruction capability.
How the HD Maximus on-site process works
The HD Maximus experience is designed around speed, traceability and audit confidence.
Setup
Our mobile unit arrives on-site, ready for safe, efficient deployment.
AI-Powered Asset Capture
Drives are placed onto a conveyor where AI identifies make, model and serial number, eliminating slow manual entry.
Reporting & Verification
You receive complete serial records and video evidence for audit, governance and compliance.
Full Video Evidence
The entire process is recorded from multiple angles, creating a clear, tamper-proof audit trail.
High-Speed Shredding
The HD Maximus reduces HDDs to 5mm particles, using a powertrain designed for continuous heavy load.
What you receive:
- Serial-level asset records (make/model/serial)
- Destruction reporting for your audit trail
- Multi-angle video evidence of the destruction process
- Certification / confirmation aligned to the agreed destruction method and scope
What Makes HD Maximus Different
Most mobile shredders are built on hydraulic systems originally designed for general waste, not data-bearing media. HD Maximus takes a purpose-built approach:
Electric motors, not hydraulics
HD Maximus runs on 2 x 22kVA electric motors, engineered for consistent high-load performance. This avoids the inefficiency, slowdown and spill risk associated with hydraulics.
Built for high throughput
As drive densities increase, older systems slow down dramatically. HD Maximus is designed specifically for the speed requirements of modern HDD destruction — keeping time on-site to an absolute minimum.
(Final throughput benchmarks will be published after testing in January 2026.)
Designed for Enterprise Security Requirements
From particle size to evidence capture, HD Maximus supports the security standards expected by organisations with strict compliance and audit frameworks.
Benefits for Your Organisation
HD Maximus isn’t just more powerful — it’s designed to enhance security, simplify compliance and reduce friction across your operations.
Higher security
5mm particle size, ADISA-certified processes and end-to-end visibility make HD Maximus ideal for highly regulated sectors.
Faster site completion
The machine’s throughput reduces on-site time, minimising operational disruption.
Audit-ready evidence
AI-driven asset capture and multi-angle video provide a defensible chain of custody that meets GDPR, ISO 27001 and internal audit requirements.
Cleaner and more reliable technology
Electric motors remove hydraulic risks and deliver more consistent performance over long sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is HD Maximus available now?
HD Maximus has been fully commissioned as of Q4 2025, following nearly a decade of iterative research and development across our shredding platforms. The machine is currently operational and available for on-site projects.
During January 2026, we are completing formal throughput benchmarking to validate real-world performance metrics, including drives-per-hour totals and particle consistency, under different load conditions.
While testing refines performance data, the machine itself is live, deployable and already being scheduled for customer engagements.
Does HD Maximus shred SSDs as well as HDDs?
Yes, HD Maximus can process SSDs, but the key distinction is matching the destruction method to the security requirement.
HD Maximus is engineered primarily for high-speed HDD destruction, but it is fully capable of shredding SSDs and mixed media as part of a wider decommissioning workflow.
For clients needing ultra-fine SSD destruction, we pair HD Maximus with our in-house designed 2mm SSD shredder, which produces one of the most secure particle sizes available on a mobile platform.
This dual-machine approach means you get:
- high-speed HDD throughput, and
- ultra-fine SSD destruction
on the same site, in a single visit.
How do you track serial numbers before shredding?
We use an AI-powered scanning system built directly into the shredding workflow.
Every drive travels along a conveyor belt where high-resolution imaging and machine learning models automatically identify:
- make
- model
- serial number
- form factor
and sometimes manufacturer-specific attributes (depending on condition and label clarity)
This removes the need for manual entry, eliminates transcription errors and ensures that every single device is verified before it enters the shredder.
The AI capture is continuous and timestamped, creating a fully traceable chain of custody from the moment the asset is collected to the moment it is destroyed.
How small are the particles created by HD Maximus?
HD Maximus reduces hard drives to approximately 5mm particles, which aligns with stringent HDD destruction guidelines and the expectations of most enterprise-level security policies.
For SSDs or organisations requiring a smaller particle size, the 2mm SSD shredder is deployed alongside HD Maximus to provide an even higher security tier.
How does the on-site setup work?
Our mobile unit arrives configured for rapid deployment. Within a short staging period, the shredder, cameras and AI capture system are operational. The entire workflow — from scanning to shredding — is contained within the unit, ensuring your team experiences minimal disruption.
You can also observe the process directly, or remotely, depending on your security and access requirements.
